The decision to sell or purchase a boat is an important decision, and how better to proceed than with accurate and reliable information about the vessel in question.
PRE-PURCHASE SURVEY
This is the most comprehensive type of inspection, and is strongly advised when purchasing a new or used vessel. Condition and the overall operation of the vessel is examined. This includes the following items:
- Structural Integrity
- Out of Water Inspection
- Electrical Systems
- Propulsion System
- Fuel System
|
- Machinery
- Navigation
- Electronics
- Misc. On Board Systems
- Cosmetic Appearance

INSURANCE SURVEY
Most insurance companies need to determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk. This inspection covers structural integrity and safety issues. Some companies also require a bottom inspection. Most insurance companies require a survey on older boats. This type of survey also includes a fair market value placed on the vessel.
APPRAISAL
Used to determine the fair market value of the vessel, an inspection is performed to gather the information necessary to justify it's monetary worth. This is normally needed for estate settlements, donations, and legal cases.
DAMAGE SURVEY
This type of survey is performed to assess the extent of damage, recommend repairs, estimate repair cost, and if requested, the probable cause.
NEW CONSTRUCTION SURVEY
Blalock Marine Services can closely monitor the construction stages from the inital order to delivery. This is performed during the construction process of a new vessel. This works well for the absentee owner who cannot be present at the boat builders plant for periodic inspections.
