What is a yacht and small craft survey?

A comprehensive examination of the hull, decks, rails, cabin, galley, heads, appliances, electronics, safety devices and mechanical devices. A detailed report reflects the findings relative to water intrusion, corrosion, and condition. Recommendations are made when necessary to bring the vessel in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard and ABYC guidelines (Note: An engine survey should be conducted by qualified engine surveyor).

Who requires a survey?

  • Insurance companies require a current condition and value survey for initial coverage and then on a regular periodic basis for continuing coverage.
  • Mortgage lenders require a current survey prior to placing a loan in order to document the condition and value of their collateral.
  • Potential buyers should have a condition and value survey known as a `pre-buy', in order to make well informed decisions.
  • Blalock Marine Services is a professional surveying company who conduct comprehensive inspections in accordance with the guidelines established by SAMS® and the standards established by ABYC.
